Delaware Academy Of Science Annual Meeting

On Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 12:30PM. Come join us for a luncheon buffet at Clayton Hall on the University of Delaware's north campus.

This year's speaker is Dr. David R. Legates, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Climactic Research at the University of Delaware. He will be speaking on The Delaware Environmental Observing System.

The Delaware Environmental Monitoring System (DEOS) is a real time regional monitoring system that provides date on stream levels, tidal conditions, snow depth, water quality and many other environmental variables around the Delmarva region. It serves as a tool for decision-makers involved with emergency management, natural resource monitoring, transportation and other activities throughout the state and the surrounding region. But more than just monitoring environmental variables, DEOS incorporates visualization and analysis capabilities to provide detailed assessments of environmental conditions. Moreover, it includes several innovative concepts developed as a part of a technology transfer effort begun over a decade ago.

The meeting will also feature updates of Delaware Academy of Science initiatives and election of officers for 2008. Reservations are required; $20 per person - please pay by check only before November 26, 2007. See our contact form for a mailing address.
